’06 World Series Rematch, Winning Ways Add Excitement to Home Stand

The Detroit Tigers begin a six game home stand at Comerica Park tonight as they kick things off with the St. Louis Cardinals in a rematch of the 2006 World Series.

Kenny Rogers will take the mound (minus the pine tar) against the team that killed the ’06 Tigers’ attempt at a world championship.

The Tigers have shocked most of the experts by turning things around as of late.  They are a mere three games under .500 and have won 12 of their last 15 games.  At the moment, they are in third place and only five games out of first.

When you’re www a comeback, every game is critical.  However, I don’t think it would be an overstatement to say that if the Tigers are able to keep the drive alive and pull over the .500 mark for the first time during this home stand, it would be a major psychological boost to the players, the management, and the fans.

Numbers mean so much in baseball.  The Tigers will not be taken seriously by anyone until they climb out the hole they dug for themselves in the early months of the season.

According to team sources, there are still tickets left for every game this home stand.  Those seats will fill up fast if the Tigers are able to win convincingly in the first few games.  Who better to do it against than their old nemesis?
