VIDEO: George Kell on ’68 Series TV broadcast

It’s been three years since we lost George Kell, the Hall of Fame third baseman who somehow seemed to become an even better broadcaster than he was a player, if that could be possible. Kell’s southern drawl (who can forgrt how he used ot say “Tuuuesdey”?) was a familiar sound to Tigers fans on radio and televison for 37 seasons.

On March 24, 2009, he passed on in his hometown of Swifton, Arkansas. Enjoy this video of he and Curt Gowdy from the TV broadcast of the 1968 World Series from Tiger Stadium. Listening to George describe how the Tigers recovered from their Game One loss and 17 K’s to Bob Gibson makes you fill with excitement. It’s like you’re there watching it live!
