The demolition crews have finally left. Cochrane Street has been reopened to traffic. The corner of Michigan & Trumbull is now officially a vacant, open field.
There are three remnants of Tiger Stadium that remain: the centerfield flag pole, a wall constructed in 1993 along Michigan Avenue when Tiger Plaza was built, and, of course, the field.
I’d say with the state of the economy, there is a good chance that the city-owned property will remain vacant for years. In any event, here are a few images of the site that were just taken today.
John

Bill
Why is there a fence? Are they afraid someone will steal the field or is it considered hallowed ground?

In St. Louis at old site of Sportman’s Park there is a Boys and Girls club there that uses the old Major league diamond of the Cards and Browns for kids games. Too bad Detroit doesn’t honor the Tiger Stadium field in a similar manner.
