First it was his post-game clubhouse tirade in Chicago that led the 2-10 Tigers to a three game winning streak.
Then it was his expletive-filled Comerica Park interview after Jason Grilli’s comments that began a three game sweep of the Seattle Mariners.
Last night, the scoreless Tigers went on to bang out four runs after Leyland argued with the umpires and was ejected from the game.
Too bad the only thing that seems to inspire the Tiger players this season are foul words and indignant behavior by their manager. It’d be nice to see some of the same fire in their bellies from time to time. They’ve got the talent — but do they have the intensity?
Perhaps that’s what The Professor is trying to teach them.
