Spring Brings Hope of a Red Wings Championship Repeat

OK, so we may be a little spoiled here in Hockeytown when it comes to our share of Stanley Cup Championships.  But there is reason — serious reason — to believe we are less than three months away from another one.

The 2008-09 Detroit Red Wings seem to be a team destined to win it all.  It’s not so much their win-loss record.  It’s the confidence and professionalism they exude on the ice.

The Red Wings have become (please forgive me) the New York Yankees of hockey.  From their impressive franchise accomplishments to the individual legends, both teams are widely accepted as their respective sport’s most dominating entity.

I can tell from my daily interaction with our customers that this city expects the Red Wings to repeat.  Granted, it’s a long road to the Stanley Cup, and anything can happen in the playoffs.  But it’s hard to be humble these days when you wear the red and white.

If they stay healthy — especially Marian Hossa — I believe the Red Wings will be drinking from The Cup come June.
