STANLEY CUP RETURNS TO HOCKEYTOWN!

The Detroit Red Wings won their fourth NHL championship in ten years tonight with a 3-2 Game 6 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Mellon Arena. Add 2008 to 1997, 1998 and 2002 and it is starting to look like a Wings’ dynasty.

It was a hard fought series and went farther than most analysts predicted. Pittsburgh has a solid group of young, aggressive players who seem destined to win a few Cups of their own. But tonight was Detroit’s night to celebrate and bask in the glory of its hockey greatness. Ten years, four Cups. Not too shabby.

Congratulations to the Red Wings organization and to their diehard fans. Good news has finally made its way home to Detroit.
