Terry Cashman’s “Talkin’ Baseball” Detroit Tigers Style

Remember those Talkin’ Baseball songs that were put out by a guy named Terry Cashman back in 1981?

Turns out Cashman played in the Detroit Tigers minor league system back in the 1950s.  He wrote the Talkin’ Baseball songs after being inspired by a signed photograph of Willie Mays, Duke Snider and Mickey Mantle.

The songs had a profound connection with baseball fans that summer because of the player strike that shortened the season.  Cashman wrote versions of the Talkin’ Baseball song for most of the major league teams — including the Detroit Tigers.

Below is a clip featuring the song and historic photos from Tigers’ eras gone by.
