Thames Joins Elites in Tigers’ Record Book

Eight hits.  Eight home runs.  Not bad for a guy who the Tigers were trying to trade before the season started.

Marcus Thames made Tiger history last night — or at least tied it — by hitting home runs in five consecutive games.  He joins Hank Greenberg, Rudy York, Vic Wertz and Willie Horton.  Not bad company.

Thames’ shots aren’t just sneaking over the fences, either.  He’s consistently driving the ball well over 400 feet.  Last night’s shot in San Francisco was estimated at 465.

Streaks are always fun to follow during a baseball season.  Another shot tonight and Thames will be the Tigers’ all-time leader in consecutive game home runs.  I wish him the best of luck.
