It was an incredible run.
For the past four days, the streets of Detroit have been overflowing with Michigan State fans from all across the country. Their presence pumped a strong dose of life into a city that, most times, feels like it’s dying. Detroit felt more like a college town than an industrial center during the Final Four tournament. And it was wonderful.
This entire region needed something positive upon which to focus its attention — and the Michigan State men’s basketball team provided just that. The Final Four tournament in Detroit would not have been nearly as exciting for the locals without them.
Thank you, Michigan State. Thank you, Michigan State fans. I hope you find more occasions to visit our city. It was great having you.
