August 11, 1968 at Tiger Stadium: The game’s premier pinch-hitter, Gates Brown, wins both games of a doubleheader against Boston with a 14th-inning home run in the opener and a ninth-inning single in the nightcap.

August 11, 1994 at Tiger Stadium: Detroit loses to Milwaukee, 10-5, in the last game before the players strike over the issue of a salary cap. The rest of the season and the World Series are subsequently canceled.

August 14, 1936 at Navin Field: The Tigers pound out a record 36 runs in doubleheader sweep of the St. Louis Browns, winning by scores of 16-1 and 20-7.
