Tigers Within Striking Distance of Post Season

Well, it hasn’t exactly been the season Detroit Tigers fans were hoping for.  But going into their 100th game of the year, the Tigers are one game over .500 and only 5.5 games out of first place.  A few hot weeks during any stretch of the remaining games could easily propel them into post season play.

Yesterday’s 19-4 drumming of the Kansas City Royals sends a strong message to the Tigers’ division rivals that they still have plenty of fight left in them.  This is a team that isn’t going to go quietly.  They’ve got the talent and the desire.  Last night’s game is an example of what happens when both come together in full force.

Now would be a great time to gain some ground with a three-game home stand coming up this weekend against the first place Chicago White Sox.  Mathematically, the Tigers are less than one week away from taking their place at the top.

Hold on tight.  The next two months are going to be a wild ride.  There will be ups and downs.  But as long as the Tigers remain within striking distance of the post season, it’s going to be exciting.
