Tigers Should Bring Up Ryan Perry Immediately

Well, that didn’t take long.  Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya proved in just two innings (one inning apiece) that neither one of them is fit to be the Detroit Tigers’ closer.

It’s time for a serious shake up in the Tigers’ roster.  I propose that the Tigers either release Rodney or trade him for a groundskeeper to be named later.  Then they should bring up their number one draft choice, reliever Ryan Perry.

Perry, 21, is down in Lakeland blowing away batters with fastballs approaching 100 mph.  He’s a fierce, intimidating right-hander standing in at 6′ 4″ and 200 lbs.  Because he’s coming out of college (University of Arizona) he’s mature enough to make the leap to The Bigs.

What’s the worst thing that could happen?  Is the fact that he could blow a save even an issue at this point?

Bringing him up now would restore some confidence in the Tigers’ ability to recruit serious talent.  It would also relieve Tigers fans from the agony of watching the pathetic performances of Rodney and Zumaya.

What do the Tigers have to lose?
