The Detroit Red Wings, a virtual All-Star team on any given day, only have two players heading to the upcoming All-Star Game. Nik Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk will represent the Wings in Montreal.
Supposedly other NHL teams conduct campaigns with their fans to elect their players to the All-Star Game — and the Red Wings do not.
Detroit could easily send five or six players to the matchup between the Western and Eastern Conferences. Instead, they’ll be watching from home. Maybe that will prove to be a blessing in disguise as the rest may do them good.
