Boy Wonder

He’s like that character from Lost who never ages from one flashback to another.

From between the pipes, he has provided a consistent and steady role for countless seasons.  He has worn many different uniforms, but none more proudly than the Winged Wheel — even in his remix version.

Chris Osgood is a consumate professional who has written another incredible chapter in the storied history of Red Wings hockey.  In nine straight games, he has provided an incredible story that, due to Franzen’s injury, will likely lead to a Conn Smythe trophy in a few mere weeks.  As a Red Wing he is joined only by Terry Sawchuk in victories — and at the moment, he is tops in fan support in the NHL.

Ellis. Theodore. Turco.  Three names who have stared across the ice from the living brick wall, and have come out bludgeoned from the journey.  Ozzie’s 14 goals in 9 straight playoff games is truly the story of these playoffs.  He will likely be looking at the names of Hossa, Crosby and Malkin in the finals.

Ten years removed from starting for a Stanley Cup champ, the soft-spoken Osgood seems at home even if this town looks a little different than Peace River, Alberta.

It seems the only thing Ozzie has failed at recently is growing a playoff beard.
